Work Alone Services
Employers are given the responsibility of eliminating, or at least minimizing risks where employees are isolated or working under hazardous conditions. Alberta's Work Alone legislation requires employers to perform these actions:
- Conduct a hazard assessment to identify safety hazards in the workplace
- Implement safety measures reducing risk to workers from identified hazards
- Ensure that safety training is provided to workers
- Provide an effective way of communicating with employees while they are working alone
Select Call Centre helps you comply with this legislation through a variety of work alone service plans. Select Call Centre provides a variety of communications services (cell, email, SMS, satellite) for employees who work alone. For example, here's how a typical operator-supported work alone program works:
- Your employee calls or emails us and signs on for duty
- The next check-in time is set either by company policy or by the employee based on degree of risk. (Usual intervals are 1-hour, 2-hour, 1/2 day, full day. Intervals may vary if the employee is working at multiple sites during the day).
- If an employee fails to check in within the appropriate time period, a pre-planned work alone service company procedure is followed: usually a series of escalating steps starting with an attempt to contact the employee and escalating to supervisory contact as specified in the work alone plan.
- We take the initiative and contact your employees per your policies.
Select Call Centre has working alone ('man down') programs for all types of companies. We provide superior communications services for employees working alone.
